As part of a larger effort to make Los Angeles greener, cleaner, healthier and more beautiful for us all to enjoy, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa launched the Million Trees Los Angeles (MTLA) initiative. This initiative aims to plant and steward one million trees over the next several years in the City of Los Angeles in partnership with community groups (such as North East Trees), local businesses, and residents.
North East Trees is one of the leaders and key tree planting partners of the City of Los Angeles that continues to help plant and provide long term stewardship of the trees planted under this initiative.
This Program will ultimately achieve the following results:
The MTLA initiative fits right in with the North East Trees mission. Over the last 2 years we have planted over 4,000 trees and distributed over 2,500 shade trees to homeowners under this initiative. The work is largely carried out by local at risk youth enrolled in our Youth Environmental Stewardship program, and with our community members.
