City of South El Monte

          Project Funded by:

                    • Open Space District - Proposition A Grant

                    • Los Angeles County Flood Control District

                    • Rivers and Mountains Conservancy

Located at the confluence of the San Gabriel River and San Jose Creek, Thienes Park provides a gateway to the bike and equestrian path used by bikers, equestrians, fisherman, joggers and nature lovers.

A circle of boulders overlooking the confluence, stone seating, interpretive signage, decomposed granite surfaces, a drinking fountain, and a bike rack were installed for the use and enjoyment of the public. Native plants such as Coyote brush, Redbud, California buckwheat, bush sunflower, California wild rose, Elderberry and native vines enhance the beauty of this park.
