The Urban Forest is the sum total of all vegetation growing in an urban area. Its maintenance is of vital importance for our health and well being. North East Trees helps communities and neighborhoods keep this living resource healthy, growing and sustainable.

The Program follows these guiding principles:
- People are the most important resource in a community to advocate the needs of the Urban Forest and to educate decision-makers
- Residents are the ultimate stewards of the Urban Forest
- Green Infrastructure begins with planting the right trees in the right place
- Planting and nurturing trees helps create and solidify communities
What it does
North East Trees provides planning and planting solutions enabling community based organizations and community leaders to improve the performance of the Urban Forest through:
- Community outreach, education, and training
- Strategic planning and grant writing
- Stakeholder facilitation and work force development
- Planting street trees
- (Re)foresting open spaces
