SoCalGas joins North East Trees to green El Sereno

More than a hundred community members enjoyed a perfect winter morning at Ascot Hills Park on December 11 for a tree and plant giveaway hosted by North East Trees and SoCalGas. Activities included propagation volunteering in our nursery, a hillside regenerative planting project (thanks to SoCalGas for bringing an enthusiastic workforce of staff and their families!), plant and tree distribution, and a buzz of conversations about greening Los Angeles. What a perfect way to wrap an incredible year of activity at Ascot Hills Park, 93 acres of treasured community open space that is - thanks to the many supporters of North East Trees - a haven for nature restoration, community science, and enjoying the great outdoors.

When distributing trees and plants, SoCalGas team members gave out important information about their 811 program for safe digging.

You can read more about the event in this article from our friends at SoCalGas.

If you weren’t able to make it to this event and you’d like to receive free trees through our tree distribution program please visit our City Plants page.

This event was made possible by SoCal Gas, CalFire, City Plants, LADWP, City of Los Angeles Department Recreation and Parks, and the Ascot Hills Park Advisory Board.
