Sennett Creek Planning and Feasibility Study

We’re making communities safer while increasing recreation opportunities and habitat

Location: Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles

Timeline: May 2022 – Present

Funded By: Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy

Project Partners: Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, Upper Los Angeles River and Tributaries Working Group

Fed by runoff water in Griffith Park, Sennett Creek has become severely neglected, polluted, and overgrown with invasive plants. The creek runs underneath Forest Lawn Drive and connects to the LA River. This project will conduct the necessary investigations, community outreach, technical and site studies, and coordination with public agencies to prepare a community-driven plan for development of a new public park and green space at the Sennett Creek site, along the LA River.

Key Project Benefits:

  • Accessible natural habitat along the LA River

  • Connections to nearby LA River Parks

  • Walking and cycling paths

  • Natural places for children to play

  • Shade trees and carbon sequestration

  • Improvement of water quality in the LA River

  • through biofiltration and re-use of stormwater
