Youth Environmental Summit

The second Youth Environmental Summit (YES) was held at the Los Angeles State Historic Park. This years exploration of green careers and outdoor skill building was held in an urban setting, whereas last years YES was in the Angeles Forest. North East Trees’, AmeriCorps Carlos Naranjo and Jamie Chen (NET) provided their experience as panelist in the areas of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Sciences. North East Trees youth, field crew lead participants on a native plants tour of the park. After the campfire and camping Mr. Naranjo took the youth, on the second day of the summit’s, outdoor adventure.

The outdoor bike skill building adventure included points of interest, speakers from community gardens and river advocates (FOLAR). Along the river the youth were shown green streets and parks built by North East Trees, plant and animal identification skills, and given insight into the inter-urban trail and what nature has to offer.
