Poet-Tree is in bloom, all over Los Angeles!

North East Trees, your friendly neighborhood park-building, tree-planting, seed-gathering, youth-training, school-greening non-profit organization, is delighted to announce the winners of its 3rd Annual Poet-Tree Contest, run in conjunction with the good folks at 826LA. (A big shout-out also to the Los Angeles Poet Society and Jessica Wilson for running poetry workshops with 826LA kids!)

We are celebrating nine award-winning young nature poets, with over $400 worth of cash and prizes handed out. With over one hundred submissions from students all across Los Angeles, we loved to see so much talent and passion for trees, nature and wildlife on display.

The $100 first prizes in our two age groups went to:

3rd grader Sophie (Grades 1-3)

and 4th grader Celia (Grades 4-8).

“For the third straight year, we were blown away by the shimmering, abundant forest of creative Poet-Tree we received,” said Michael X. Ferraro, Board President of North East Trees. “Our congratulations to Celia and Scarlett, and all the young poets who shared their work. It’s inspirational to be reminded by young people of how connected we all are to nature, especially in a big city like Los Angeles.”
